Chief Jim Doyle
Police Chief Jim Doyle is a career officer with the Ontario Police Department. He began as a police cadet with the Ontario Police Department on September 16, 1973, and then hired as a police officer on July 6, 1975. He quickly moved up the ranks, working in every major division and almost every detail. He was promoted to Captain in December 1990, Deputy Chief of Police in January 2003, and Chief of Police on May 2, 2004.

Police Chief Doyle received his bachelor’s degree from Cal Poly Pomona and master’s degree in criminal justice from California State University, San Bernardino.

Chief Doyle is also a graduate of the prestigious Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Southwest Command College.

 

In addition to police work, Chief Doyle is a current member of several community and professional management and law enforcement associations to include:


  •  Ontario/Upland Optimist Club (past president)
•  Tri-City Chapter of the National Management Association (past president)
•  Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy Associates (FBINAA)
•  Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (LEEDA)
•  Ontario Kiwanis

 

Chief Doyle has been an adjunct faculty member at Victor Valley College, Chaffey College and Chapman University where he has taught courses in criminal justice and sociology.
