Uniform Bureau

Police Captain Scott Cummings

The Uniform Bureau is the most visible portion of law enforcement, consisting of many specialized units.

The citizens vision of the patrol officer is that of the uniformed officer driving a traditional patrol car. Modern police patrol encompasses many means to keep the streets safe for citizens.

In addition to the traditional patrol unit, these methods also include bicycle patrol, air support, and motorcycle patrol.

To make patrol officers more accessible and responsive to the needs of the community, the department has opened remote stations in strategic portions of the city, and at the Ontario Mills Mall.

The Uniform Bureau Commander is responsible for all uniformed activities. He supervises four patrol "watches," each of which is under the direct command of a police lieutenant. The Uniform Bureau Commander is also responsible for the direction of the Community Oriented Policing (COPS) Division, the Traffic Division, Mills Sub-station and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team.
