The City of Ontario Engineering Department, under the direction of City Engineer Louis Abi-younes, serves the needs of the citizens of Ontario by providing professional engineering services to the community and City government. The department is dedicated to maintaining the high level of responsiveness which serves to characterize a business friendly environment to serving our community. The department is charged with overseeing, planning, designing and implementing various projects. Some of the department's functions include:

To act as the lead agency for work activities within the Right-of-Way. |

To provide support for other departments working within the Right-of-Way. |

|
To deal with environmental issues impacting storm water discharges. |
|
• |
|
To manage traffic engineering and transportation planning activities. |
|
• |
|
To plan check all development plans including those that impact any of the other department functions. |

• |

To issue construction and traffic control permits for any work within the Right-of-Way. |
|
• |
|
To inspect construction within the Right-of-Way to verify conformance with the permit conditions and compliance with the existing codes. |

• |

To administer public works contracts for work within the Department's sphere of influence. |
|
• |
|
To respond to, and handle, any other requests of the Department in an efficient, timely, and professional manner. |

|
To review all proposed residential, commercial and industrial development projects and provide engineering input/conditions of approval for approval of the proposed projects. |

To program, plan, design & administer construction of the annual capital improvement program. |
